We conduct comprehensive criminal background checks, driving record checks, and verify professional & personal references for every caregiver . Our workplace is drug-free – all staff must pass drug screenings. We also verify credentials, Social Security, and work authorization (I-9) for each team member. Importantly, every caregiver carries current car insurance, is covered by workers’ compensation, and is fully insured by our agency. When we send a caregiver to your home, you can be confident they have been thoroughly vetted and qualified.

 No. We do not require any upfront payments or deposits. You only pay for the care and services after they have been provided – and only once you are completely satisfied with our service . We will discuss rates and payment arrangements with you during the care plan process, but rest assured, there are no surprise fees. In many cases (such as clients eligible under GAPP or other programs), families have no out-of-pocket costs at all. Our goal is to make home care accessible and stress-free, including when it comes to finances.

We pride ourselves on our flexibility. Next Step Healthcare has a 1-hour minimum per visit, which is almost unheard of in our industry . This means even if you just need a caregiver for a quick check-in or short respite, we can accommodate you. You can schedule care as needed – from an hour here or there up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for full-time care. We will work with you to adjust the schedule if your needs increase or decrease over time. There’s no long-term obligation (see next question) – use our services only as long as they help your family.

No. Unlike some agencies, Next Step Healthcare will not lock you into a long-term contract. You are only charged for the actual hours of care we provide, and you can change or discontinue services at any time with no penalties or fees . Upon starting services, we do ask you to sign a standard Service Agreement – this simply outlines our commitment to deliver the care you need, on the schedule you choose, and ensures we’re all on the same page. If your needs change, our nursing staff is always available to reassess and adjust the care plan. You remain in control – our services are here for as long (or as short) as you need them.
